Paralegal
Reports will write themselves; people's trust remains your job.
What's changing for your profession
If you are a social worker, paralegal, sports coach or work in a religious community, you know that much of your day is invisible — conversations, listening, judgment, sometimes silence. Artificial intelligence struggles to enter that zone. It does, however, already handle the administrative side well: it generates training programmes from given parameters, prepares documentation for a social case, answers standard legal questions and looks up procedures. That is good news, because admin is usually what drains you and steals time from the people you started this work for. The shift is that employers will expect larger caseloads per person, and at the same time a higher quality of direct interaction. Focus on soft skills that resist automation: active listening, de-escalation, cultural sensitivity, working with trauma, the ability to set boundaries without losing contact with the person in front of you. Add basic digital literacy so you can use the new tools confidently. You will handle more cases in less time, but you will be more present where presence actually decides the outcome.
